Rule #1 — Intro to OUR PHILOSOPHY (How We View The Market)
Rule #1 — Intro to OUR PHILOSOPHY (How We View The Market)
These are the Lessons and Core Principles I learned Over the Last 25 Years In Finance, 20 Years of Which I Spent as a Series 7 Licensed Stock Broker Trading Stocks for High Net Worth Clients (2002-2022). I Went Through Every Correction, Every Crash, Every Earnings Call, I was there on the Front Lines. We made money and lost money in every way known to man. The Best Lessons Came From the Losses, Knowing What Not To Do is 90% of the Battle, A Well Thought Out Strategy and The Discipline To Follow The Strategy is the Other 10%. My Strategy is Designed to Prioritize The Research, Remove the Guess Work, and to Maximize the Probability of Exponential Growth. Our Mind State and How We View or Perceive The Stock Market is Easily Our Most Important Rule.
When Investing in the Stock Market, We As Investors have a Choice to Make, We Can Either Choose to Invest in the Short Term (Voting Machine), Which is Basically a Casino Where Investors Can Make Money Quick and Also Lose Money Quicker, Or We Can Choose to Invest Longterm (Weighing Machine) Which is actually Very Predictable. Historically, the U.S. Stock Market Has Recovered Its Prior Highs; Future Recovery Is Not Certain. Whether it was the crash of 87, Sept 11th, The Covid Crash, the Great Financial Crisis of 2008 2009, the Market Has Historically Recovered Its Prior Highs. Just Like Rush Hour Traffic or Waves in the Ocean, Corrections, crashes and Volatility are Literally Part Of This Game. (DO YOU UNDERSTAND?)
At G.L.A. INVEST We Have a Longterm Perspective and a Longterm Investment horizon. We are Seeking Exponential Growth and Compounding Interest, with Risk’s that We Are Comfortable with. We believe we can significantly Outperform the return of the S&P 500 over the next 5 to 10 years by Investing in Diversified Companies that are Digitizing and Revolutionizing the way we live.
The Famous quote from Benjamin Graham (The Father of Value Investing) “the stock market over the short term is a voting machine (or popularity contest) is swayed up and down by news, opinion and emotion. Over the longterm the stock market transforms into a weighing machine that measures a company’s true value with its fundamentals – its earnings, revenue, and profits.” I learned this lesson over and over and over again as a stock broker for 20 years. Once an investor removes trying to time the market from his or her strategy, it opens up the ability to create exponential growth.
If We use PLTR, TSLA, NVDA, BITCOIN as examples, and their returns over the last 5 years its clear, You Can’t Get Those Returns by Trading, same thing with the 15 year returns for AAPL AMZN GOOG META, The folks who were buying and selling made a small fraction of what the long term Investors made. During Long Term Investments in Innovation Companies, there is often long periods of pull backs or under performance, with innovation we have to be early and sometimes it takes time for the market to figure out the tech. This is why we need the research to be on point, First principles research is the brain of our approach.Rule #2 — OUR STRATEGY and INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE
Are a little unconventional, I like to put all of my eggs in just a few baskets, then I watch those baskets very closely. Our Strategy is designed to return exponential growth, and Compounding Interest and to outperform the S&P 500 by 5X or more over the next 5-10 years.
We only invest in companies we believe can 10X, 20X, 30X over the next 5-10 years. First we research potential investments rigorously, We use our G.L.A INVEST Proprietary scoring system, then We buy and hold, DCA on weakness, and manage the portfolio. An example of managing is when a stock goes up 10-15X in a short period of time like NVDA PLTR did recently, we will sometimes sell 10-15% to reallocate the profits to another one of our companies that is underperforming at the moment, or we move that equity into a “cash like” investment like ARKB, STRC, AMZN, AAPL until we have a place to invest it; these investments can still lose value. We only sell if our research determines that there is a better place for the money or if our longterm bull thesis breaks down. We don’t allow emotional decisions into our strategy, we don’t allow volatility to shake our thesis.
We scrutinize our bull case on daily basis, and we constantly are mining the risk and bear thesis. You can’t make exponential growth by trading, the research tells us what to do, not the media or our emotions. This rule is especially important during corrections or crashes, we understand that corrections are a part of the game and our investments are in companies solving problems which usually come back to their highs quicker than the benchmark indices. The performance of our Flagship portfolio The G.L.A INVEST “SEXY 6” has consistently achieved this goal in 5 of the last 6 years.
Rule #3 — THE PLAYING FIELD (Next 5-10 Years)
We Believe we are in the beginning phases of the largest innovation / productivity boom in human history which will be driven by AI, ROBOTICS, ENERGY STORAGE, BLOCKCHAIN (Finance) and GENOMICS (Health Care), this growth will spur the largest bull market in history and we believe that the companies that solve the largest problems will have the largest exponential returns. Our research indicates massive productivity gains that will come from AI / ROBOTICS / Blockchain (automation) etc.
The worlds GDP will average above +7% by the end of this decade after averaging +2-3% over the last 120 years. The Industrial Revolution was ushered in by Electricity, The Automobile, and the Telephone which caused a massive step change in the economy. The coming cost declines and growth of productivity will dwarf the previous industrial revolutions and the internet, also the societal impact will be Godly. Those that Invest correctly will benefit immensely. Every part of our strategy was created for this game board of the next ten years.
Rule #4 — KNOW WHAT WE OWN
We must be obsessed with this rule!! We Make Large Concentrated Investments in 6-10 Diversified Companies that are innovating and solving the biggest problems of today. We invest in companies that are big enough to predict (above 2 billion market caps), companies that have strong impenetrable moats to make it nearly impossible for competitors to penetrate. We Invest in companies with visionary founders (ie Elon Musk, Alex Karp, Michael Saylor etc) that are focused on innovation. Companies that make must have products and services. Companies that have the best risk vs reward profiles, where we truly understand the risks. We only invest in companies that have large TAMs (Total Addressable Markets) and potential customers. We are very critical about what we let in our portfolios, we only invest in companies that we think can 10X, 20X, or 30X or more. We also like companies and investments that Wall St doesn’t understand (ie TSLA, PLTR, MSTR). Our advantage is the research, and understanding it before the masses, this will allow us to continue to outperform. We spend every minute of the day making sure our bull thesis on the market and our top positions are still intact!
Rule #5 — Information is the Most Valuable Commodity
We have an unquenchable thirst for research, The research is the courage of our convictions. Always be learning / Always be researching. We strive every day to out learn everyone and to share what we learn with our network / Community / Clients. A wise man knows he knows nothing.Rule #6 — Volatility is a Feature, Not a Bug
Like waves on a boat ride, or traffic at Rush Hour, Corrections are Literally part of This Game. So Don’t Panic or be Surprised when they happen! 10% corrections happen on average once every 12 months, 5% corrections happen on average every 4 months. We don’t panic or let emotion affect our decisions, we use the corrections to our advantage by Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA).
The people who get fearful during corrections don’t know what they own so naturally they panic. Volatility can still be risky even if you know what you own. Volatility is Vitality. Volatility Is Our Traveling Companion, and the Price We Agree To Pay For Exponential Growth! The Big money uses the volatility to manipulate the small money. When something is volatile, it means capital, energy, and attention are actively flowing through it — Proof the asset is attracting participants undergoing value discovery. We Genuinely are Unphased during periods of high volatility because, we love the Opportunity to buy our top investments during a sale. Because of the way the media covers Corrections, The Stock market is the only store on earth where the shoppers get scared during a sale.
There will be many crashes and black swan events over the next ten years, I’m pricing in that fact with my strategy and the companies I invest in (You should too)!
Rule #7 — Miss 10 Days, Lose Half Your Gains
This is one of the main reasons that trading short term is a fool’s errand, and why the average hedge fund returns lower than the S&P 500 — the majority of stock market gains each year come from just a handful of unpredictable, high-powered rally days. Historical data shows that missing out on only the 10 best trading days annually can slash your returns by more than half, regardless of broader market performance. These outsized surges often follow sharp declines, periods of stress and pessimism, catching investors off guard if they’re sitting on the sidelines waiting for safety. An example of this was during Covid and during the April 2025 tariff correction, sitting in cash is Trash. I tell you these things so you don’t waste time like I did.
Rule #8 — The Finance Media is Not Your Friend
This is one of the most important rules. Financial media thrives on clicks and attention—remember, “if it bleeds, it leads.” They, along with the financial firms that advertise with them, benefit from keeping investors constantly buying and selling to rack up fees and commissions. Wall Street analysts are employed by investment banks that profit from your trades. They often portray investing as complex wizardry, pushing the narrative that you need “professionals” to handle it—which is nonsense. Never let sensational headlines or analyst opinions dictate your views.
In today’s world, much of the media is unreliable and heavily opinion-driven. Approach all headlines with extreme caution: treat it as potential fake news until you’ve verified it yourself. Rely on critical thinking and first principles to uncover the real truths.
Thanks to platforms like YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Discord, and other social media, information is now democratized, the problem with said information these days is much of it is Opinion Based, Biased, or flat Out Not True, and is Certainly not in the investors best interest. Crowdsourcing research from diverse sources is the best way to find reliable insights. I personally sift through hundreds of long-form videos each week from specialized content creators who are genuine investors with no ulterior motives—unlike traditional finance media.
Rest assured, I research every minute of every day so you don’t have to, and because I love it!
Rule #9 — We DON’T OVER DIVERSIFY!
Our Investment philosophy is a little unconventional, we like to put all our eggs in just a few baskets, and then watch those baskets very closely. We are not investing to make 10-12% like the S&P 500 averages, we are investing for exponential growth and compounding interest. We only invest in companies that we believe can 10X, 20X, 30X over the next 5-10 years. When an investor is over diversified it obviously waters down the performance. So instead of being over diversified, we invest in diversified companies that have different segments of focus (ie. TESLA has 10 different segments under their umbrella).
Investment advisers frequently spread client money across dozens—or even hundreds—of holdings, resulting in portfolios that closely mirror broad market indices despite charging active management fees. This over-diversification is rarely in the client’s best interest and stems from a mix of behavioral, regulatory, and economic incentives. They are not incentivized to do deep research, they are only incentivized to not lose you money or to have as little volatility as possible so they can sit back, do nothing and steadily collect the 1-2% they are charging you. Over diversification is for people that don’t know what they’re doing. Wall Street Investment Advisors build diversified portfolios with low volatility because it benefits the Firms by keeping the investors quiet, while they collect their management fees.
Rule #10 — We Think Outside the Box
Too many investors look at the present with metrics like the PE ratio. The present is already priced in. We need to think and visualize 18-24 months from now for what the world is going to be, what securities might trade at. What a company is earning now doesn’t mean anything, its about what the company may earn. IF WE CAN SEE / PREDICT WHAT A COMPANY WILL EARN BEFORE THE MASSES SEE IT, We will continue to outperform. We don’t follow the masses, the masses will eventually follow us. We don’t let the crowd or the media tell us what to do. Our research and our discipline lead us to our decisions.Rule #11 — We Only Invest with Money We Can Afford to Lose
Invest Only with Unshakable Conviction. We allocate capital only when our belief in the opportunity is so strong that temporary drawdowns excite us, not scare us. Every position must inspire the confidence to double down when volatility hits. As Warren Buffett said, “If you don’t want to hold it ten years, you shouldn’t own it ten minutes.” This principle defines our research discipline and portfolio strategy—it’s not just a rule, it’s a mindset.
Rule #12 — We Constantly “Mine the Risk”
Most investors obsess over potential rewards—but our advantage is relentless risk awareness. As a former broker, witnessing every kind of risk up close, it became clear: true success in the markets comes from knowing, hunting, and preparing for risk better than anyone. At G.L.A. INVEST, we make it our daily mission to identify both known and emerging threats. Markets are unpredictable, but preparation is always within our control. We focus on companies entering hyper growth phases only when risk is thoroughly understood and managed. Our bull thesis is challenged every day, and we only exit when the facts change or a better opportunity arises. Risk is not just a checklist—it’s a constant hunt, and it defines how we protect conviction and capital.
Rule #13 — Always Consider the Tax Benefits and Pitfalls
With all of our investments. This rule emphasizes the importance of factoring in taxes when making investment decisions, as they can significantly impact your net returns. Different investments, such as stocks, bonds, or real estate, are subject to varying tax treatments, including capital gains tax, dividend tax, or interest income tax, depending on your jurisdiction. For example, short-term capital gains (on assets held for less than a year) are often taxed at a higher rate than long-term gains. Additionally, tax-advantaged accounts like IRAs or 401(k)s in the U.S. can defer or reduce tax liabilities, while taxable accounts require careful planning to minimize tax burdens.
Rule #14 — The Stock Price Does Not Determine If It Is Cheap or Expensive
This rule emphasizes that a stock’s share price (e.g., $50 or $500 per share) is not a reliable indicator of whether a company is undervalued (cheap) or overvalued (expensive). Unlike a handbag with a fixed price tag, a stock’s share price is influenced by the company’s total number of shares outstanding, which varies across companies and can change due to events like stock splits or share issuances.
For example, a company with fewer shares outstanding might have a higher share price, while one with many shares might have a lower price, even if both companies are of similar value. We invest for a % return on our capital.
The true measure of a company’s value is its market capitalization, calculated as the share price multiplied by the total number of shares outstanding. Market cap reflects the total cost to own the entire company, providing a clearer picture of its size and worth. Also if a company is in the beginning stages of hyper growth and makes must have products and services (ie. TSLA robotaxi), we define them ultra cheap regardless of the current price of the stock.
The purpose of investing in a stock is to make a % gain on an investment, this is the same fact whether the stock is at $3 or $100.
Rule #15 — Never Use Margin or Leverage of Any Kind… Ever
Using leverage or margin to buy more stock is a recipe for disaster; if you live by the leveraged sword, you risk losing everything in a single market swing. I’ve seen this play out a million times, nothing fun about margin calls. If you don’t learn this lesson now, you will learn it soon, ie the crypto correction and now the silver correction is more proof. Don’t be a retard and use margin, Ever.
Rule #16 — Understand the Fees
Know What You’re Paying For and Why! Always understand the fees associated with your investments. Be clear about how much your advisor or broker charges and what motivates them financially. Some brokers may charge staggered commissions—sometimes up to 5% on a single stock trade—while many financial advisors charge annual fees of 1-2% of your account’s total value, which can add up to a substantial amount over a decade or more. Even seemingly small annual fees can take a big bite out of long-term returns, so review all costs carefully and ask how your advisor is incentivized to act on your behalf. At G.L.A. INVEST, we believe that with the help from our service, investors can manage their own portfolios for a lot cheaper and can produce higher returns.
Rule #16B — Opportunity Cost Rule
When making a decision on a potential investment, always consider the value of the next best alternative you’re giving up. Choose the option that maximizes your overall benefit, accounting for both gains and the potential losses from forgone opportunities.
I’ve seen it a million times — Investors will spend time and money on a speculative company which eventually ends bad, when they could have spent the time and money on Investing something with a higher probability. I finally learned this lesson and rule towards the end of my career as a broker when we lost 8 million in the marijuana company Hexo in 2019. We have a choice to invest in Michael Jordan or a good high school player with potential, we choose MJ!! (TSLA PLTR MSTR NVDA HOOD ARKB)Rule #17 — Buy the Best, Ignore the Rest
We need to keep very high standards when allowing a company into our portfolios, we are looking for specific characteristics that can help us achieve higher returns. We don’t chase the hottest stories of the week, we are not slaves to the market, if a company doesn’t score Perfect on our scoring system it does not get in to our portfolio.
Rule #18 — We Don’t Invest in Ticker Symbols, Charts, or Pieces of Paper
We are investing in real companies that are changing the world. Companies that have thousands of employees. We Watch the Company and its Fundamentals / News, we don’t watch the stock’s short term movements to determine if it’s a good investment or not.
Rule #19 — THE MARKET’S UPSIDE BIAS
This Rule Highlights that, Historically, the Stock Market Spends Approximately 83% of the Time Trading within 10% of its All-Time Highs. Also the Market Hits a New High Roughly Every 30 days.
Despite short-term fluctuations, corrections, or bear markets, major indices like the S&P 500 tend to hover near their peak levels more often than not, reflecting the market’s long-term upward bias driven by economic growth and corporate performance. If we truly understand this, why would we waste our time with trading? The Stock Market is the only market or store where the customers get scared when there’s a sale. People react like this because the media sensationalizes volatility (If it bleeds it leads). Market Timing or trading works when you get it right, But its Important to Know That there are approx zero billionaire day traders, and THE HALL OF FAME FOR MARKET TIMERS IS AN EMPTY ROOM.
Rule #20 — Investing is 90% Mindset
Just like Baseball, and Most Professional Sports, Remembering that we are investors not gamblers or traders is the most important thing. When in doubt zoom out. We are investing in the weighing machine, not the unpredictable voting machine.
Rule #21 — The G.L.A. INVEST SECRET GENERATIONAL WEALTH FORMULA
Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) + Exponential Growth + Compounding Interest = Generational Wealth
Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy where you invest a fixed dollar amount into a particular asset (like stocks, ETFs, or crypto) at regular intervals (e.g., every month or paycheck), regardless of the current price or market conditions. The key benefit is that it automatically buys more shares when prices are low and fewer shares when prices are high. Over time, this can reduce the average cost per share compared to trying to time the market with lump-sum investments. It’s a disciplined, low-stress way to build positions gradually and mitigate the risk of investing a large amount right before a dip.
Exponential Growth in stocks refers to a pattern where a company’s share price (or total value) increases at an accelerating rate over time, often driven by compounding factors like revenue growth, market dominance, innovation, and reinvested earnings. The growth starts relatively modest but builds momentum as the base gets larger — leading to massive long-term returns that look almost unbelievable in hindsight. Here are two classic real-world examples from Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN), both of which delivered textbook exponential trajectories over multi-decade periods (all prices are split-adjusted to make historical comparisons apples-to-apples).
Compound Interest is the process of earning interest on both the initial principal and the interest that has already been added in previous periods — often called “interest on interest.” This creates exponential growth in the value of an investment or savings over time.
“Compounding Interest is the 8th wonder of the world” — Because of its profound ability to turn small regular investments into substantial sums over time.
Rule #22 — THE RESEARCH IS THE COURAGE OF OUR CONVICTIONS!! FIRST PRINCIPLES RESEARCH
At G.L.A INVEST Research, first principles form the backbone of how every investment is analyzed and selected. Instead of relying on market trends, industry hype, or conventional wisdom, we break opportunities down to their fundamental truths, always asking: what is the real, core business opportunity, what barriers exist, and how is the company uniquely positioned to solve them?
This approach means starting from the basics—identifying urgent problems in society, understanding how a company’s products or solutions address those, and rigorously questioning every assumption. By reasoning from the ground up, not by analogy, we avoid fleeting narratives and stay focused on quality, real-world value.
First principles research allows us to build our Strategies to be resilient, unconventional, and centered on exponential growth. It keeps our conviction strong and our process disciplined, so we invest with confidence—even in volatile markets.Rule #23 — INVESTORS WHO INSPIRE US
CATHIE WOOD, RAY DALIO, RON BARRON, TOM LEE, PETER LYNCH, WARREN BUFFETT, PETER THIEL, TONY SEEBA, JOE LONSDALE, BRET WINTON, ARK INVEST, TOM NASH, STEVEN MARK RYAN, SATOSHI NAKAMOTO
These legends don’t follow the trends, they set them, and none of them try to time the market.
Rule #24 — THINGS WE DON’T DO
We Don’t Use Margin, We Don’t over diversify, We Don’t invest in biotechs, We Don’t try to time the market, We Don’t let the media shape our opinions, We Don’t think the finance media or wall street analysts are our friends. We don’t let short term stock moves impact our decisions, We don’t invest in Chinese stocks, We don’t think we know Everything, We don’t believe anything to be true until we finish our research. We Don’t invest to be right, we invest to make money.
Rule #25 — The G.L.A. Proprietary Scoring System
For the best risk vs reward investments for the next 5 and 10 years:
1. Companies we invest in need to be big enough and developed enough to predict with a high degree of probability (over 3 billion mkt cap, over 100 million in revenue). I learned this lesson many times. If the financial winds blow the wrong way, a small company can go out of business very easily, we witnessed this during the fed rate hike cycle in 2022, many great small companies ended in bankruptcy because access to capital became very expensive.
2. Companies we Invest In Must Have Visionary Founders That Are Focused on Innovation, and Have The Ability to Recruit and Hire the Most Talented Mission Driven Employees (ie. Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Alex Karp, Jeff Bezos, Michael Saylor etc)
3. Companies we invest in make “must have” products and Services (ie. iPhone, Amazon delivery, Tesla’s self driving and robot etc)
4. Companies we invest in are at the beginning stages of hyper sales and revenue growth, with fortress balance sheets.
5. Companies we invest in must have huge TAMs (Total Addressable Markets) and potential customers.
6. Companies we invest in must have huge impenetrable Competitive Moats to keep competition away.
7. Companies we invest in Must Have the best Risk vs reward profiles, with Risks we are comfortable with.
8. We Invest in Companies that are solving major societal problems. “The Companies that solve the Biggest problems will have the largest returns Longterm.”
9. We Like Companies and technologies that Wall Street Doesn’t understand (ie PLTR, TSLA, BITCOIN)
10. Companies that have proven investors behind them (ie Cathie Wood, Peter Thiel)PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE
