THE TAPE S&P 500 7,722.72 (+0.73%) | Nasdaq Composite 27,190.86 (+1.19%) | Dow 51,176.96 (+0.49%) | Russell 2000 2,832.90 (+0.94%) | Bitcoin about $84,492| 10-year yield about 5.28%

  • Soft jobs report flips the weekend Fed narrative

September nonfarm payrolls rose just +29,000 versus a Dow Jones consensus near +84,000. Unemployment ticked up to 4.2%. Average hourly earnings rose 0.1% month over month and 3.0% year over year. August was revised down to +133,000 from +162,000, and July and August revisions together cut 60,000 jobs. Markets treated it as risk-on, with the Nasdaq leading and October hike odds collapsing. Soft labor is not a free lunch if inflation stays sticky, so we watch Monday's ISM Services before redrawing the path. (BLS, Yahoo Finance)

  • Tesla delivers the beat and leads the Mag 7

Q3 deliveries were 486,532 versus the company-compiled consensus of about 461,974. Production was 464,391. Energy storage was 13.7 GWh, soft versus the roughly 15.9 GWh consensus. TSLA closed at $370.59 (+4.65%), and earnings come after the close on Wednesday, Oct 21. Short term: deliveries removed a binary overhang. Long-term hold / DCA: our view remains the path to $4,000 by 2030 via FSD, Cybercab and robotaxi. Soft storage is a Q4 watch item, not a thesis change. (Tesla IR, Yahoo Finance)

  • Nasdaq owns the close and semis stay in charge

QQQ rose 1.02%. NVDA closed at $233.95 (+1.34%) and AMD at $633.91 (+2.95%). A soft labor print plus AI infrastructure demand is a tape Wall Street underweights until it doesn't. ARK Invest's Big Ideas 2026 frames AI and robotics as a multi-year compounding wave. Our view: NVDA and AMD remain core long-term DCA names inside that frame, not one-day trades. (Yahoo Finance)

  • SoftBank closes the OpenAI check

SoftBank said Oct 1 it completed the third and final $10B tranche, finishing the $30B follow-on and bringing cumulative OpenAI exposure to about $64.6B, roughly 13% ownership. OpenAI is not a buyable ticker for most readers, but it shows capital is still flooding the private AI stack. We screen private names the same way we screen public ones: Mag 7 caliber or pass.

  • SPCX rips

SPCX closed at $158.96 (+7.35%), a standout on an already green Nasdaq day. Treat liquidity and data quality carefully. Long-term hold / DCA: launch, Starlink and AI compute leasing to large labs is the narrative we care about, not one Friday print. (Yahoo Finance). SPACEX IS THE DEFINITION OF WHAT A LONG TERM EXPONENTIAL GROWTH INNOVATION COMPANY LOOKS LIKE.

  • Nike is still wreckage (NEVER BUY A STOCK JUST BECAUSE ITS DOWN!!!

just less than the overnight gap, NKE closed at $33.87 (-3.64%), after trading near $31.69 pre-market (about -10% versus Thursday's close). The fiscal Q1 revenue miss and soft full-year outlook still dominate. We don't buy a name just because it is down. Nike is a consumer-execution story, not an innovation compounder we need in our long-term book. (Nike IR, CNBC, Yahoo Finance)

  • Bitcoin fades the jobs pop and crypto-adjacent names split

Bitcoin sat near $84,500 into the evening after a firmer pre-market near $86k. MSTR closed at $160.01 (-0.31%), ARKB at $27.93 (-0.43%) and COIN at $183.00 (-3.32%). HOOD rose 1.43% to $112.74 but was volatile, with a session high near $119. Short-term crypto beta whips around. Our view: bitcoin at $1M by 2030 and MSTR at the start of hypergrowth through its bitcoin product line. That is our house view, not a fact. (Yahoo Finance)

  • Alphabet and Amazon quietly do the work

GOOGL closed at $343.50 (+1.56%) and GOOG at $340.35 (+1.62%). AMZN rose 1.33% to $251.52, AAPL 1.02% to $333.69, MSFT 0.92% to $517.53 and META 0.30% to $728.08. Soft labor data plus AI and cloud compounding is a better mix for cash-flow giants than a hot payrolls surprise. Long-term hold / DCA. (Yahoo Finance)

  • PLTR and CBRS remind us leadership is not uniform

PLTR closed at $188.75 (-0.68%) after trading higher intraday, and CBRS at $166.43 (-1.82%). Both are long-term hold / DCA names for us: government and commercial AI for PLTR, wafer-scale AI inference for CBRS. A red day inside a green Nasdaq is noise unless the fundamentals crack. We don't chase or abandon on one session. (Yahoo Finance)

Still at support.

  • Quiet factory orders, loud weekend setup

August factory orders rose 0.1%, in line, with July revised up to +0.8%. WTI settled near $91.26 (-1.7%). The 10-year is near 5.28%, still elevated in absolute terms. Next cash session is Monday, Oct 5, with final services PMIs and then ISM Services. The next FOMC meeting is Oct 27-28 and the next CPI is Wednesday, Oct 14. We stay process-first into the weekend.
