$CBRS — Cerebras Earnings Preview: The Inference Supercycle Is Here

Cerebras Systems ($CBRS) reports second-quarter 2026 results after today’s market close, followed by its earnings call at 5:00 p.m. ET. This is one of the most important earnings reports of the quarter for investors focused on the next generation of AI infrastructure.

We have been investors in Cerebras since late 2024, when the company was still private. Today, our position is up more than 13X—but we believe the most consequential phase of the Cerebras story may still lie ahead.

At G.L.A. INVE$T RE$EARCH, we view $CBRS as a core long-term holding. The market is beginning to understand a crucial point: AI inference—not just training—is becoming the defining infrastructure bottleneck of the decade. Demand appears increasingly insatiable, and we believe the need for ultra-fast, cost-efficient inference capacity can remain structurally powerful well into 2030.

Our approach remains simple: own the innovators changing the technology stack, think in years rather than quarters, and add to high-conviction positions when volatility creates opportunity. We intend to add to our Cerebras position on meaningful pullbacks.

What Wall Street Expects

Cerebras guided for approximately $194 million in Q2 core revenue, representing 88% year-over-year growth, along with core gross margins of 36%–38% and a core operating-margin range of negative 30% to negative 32%. Consensus estimates are near $194.16 million in revenue and a loss of $0.21 per share.

The setup is clear: investors will be watching for confirmation that the company can convert enormous inference demand, marquee customer relationships, and capacity expansion into durable revenue growth.

The Partnership Flywheel Accelerates

The quarter has brought further evidence that Cerebras is becoming a critical inference platform across cloud, cybersecurity, and large-scale AI infrastructure.

CrowdStrike partnership: On July 22, CrowdStrike selected Cerebras to help power Falcon AI Detection and Response (AIDR). The partnership puts Cerebras’ high-speed inference technology into a mission-critical cybersecurity use case, where rapid model response can matter enormously. Cerebras will also standardize on the CrowdStrike Falcon platform to secure its own operations—making this a meaningful two-way enterprise relationship.

CleanCore capacity agreement: Cerebras also entered into a 10-year colocation agreement for a Minnesota data-center campus. The facility is expected to provide approximately 55 MW of utility power and 40 MW of critical IT load at full buildout. The deal carries roughly $800 million of initial 10-year contract value and could exceed $3 billion including renewals—an important signal that Cerebras is aggressively securing the infrastructure necessary to meet future demand.

Im BUYING THE DIPS

These announcements build on the transformational agreements disclosed last quarter:

  • A multi-year OpenAI deal valued at more than $20 billion, involving deployment of 750 MW of Cerebras inference compute over several years.

  • A multi-year AWS partnership designed to bring Cerebras inference to a broader global customer base, pairing AWS Trainium for prefill with Cerebras CS-3 systems for rapid decoding inference.

The central thesis is becoming more visible: Cerebras is not simply selling chips. It is building an inference platform, an enterprise distribution network, and a capacity base designed for an AI economy that increasingly demands real-time intelligence.

Analyst Sentiment Remains Constructive

Wall Street sentiment remains firmly bullish ahead of earnings. The current consensus is a Strong Buy, with 10 buy ratings, one hold rating, and no sell ratings. The average 12-month price target is approximately $292, with published targets ranging from $209 to $340.

Recent bullish coverage includes:

  • Mizuho: Outperform, with a $310 price target.

  • Needham: Buy, with a $300 price target.

  • Citigroup: Buy, with a $340 price target.

  • Wedbush: Outperform, with a $280 price target.

  • Morgan Stanley: Overweight, with a $273 price target.

Analysts recognize the same reality we see: Cerebras is competing in one of the largest infrastructure build-outs in modern history. The risks are real—competition, execution, capital intensity, customer concentration, and margin pressure all matter—but the upside of owning a differentiated inference leader early in the AI build-out remains substantial.

Our Bottom Line

Cerebras is a foundational holding in our Infinite Innovation portfolio framework.

We invested before the public markets had access to this opportunity because we believed wafer-scale compute and ultra-fast inference could become a genuine alternative to the conventional GPU-centric architecture. That conviction has strengthened as OpenAI, AWS, CrowdStrike, and major infrastructure partners validate the technology and expand the company’s commercial reach.

The short term may be volatile. Earnings always introduce risk, and $CBRS is a high-beta innovation asset. But we are not focused on attempting to trade every print, headline, or daily price move.

We are focused on the long-term opportunity:
